Natural Beauty at Gibbs Gardens

Situated on one of the highest crests in Cherokee County, Georgia, Gibbs Gardens is a must for both locals and visitors alike. Purchased in 1980, Jim Gibbs and his team cultivated the gardens one 10-acre plot at a time. The gardens showcase 16 spectacular gardens including 3 feature gardens: Manor House, Japanese, and Waterlily Gardens.
There is a babbling stream that flows through the middle of the gardens, surrounded by ferns, azaleas, dogwoods, and mountain laurels. Visitors will cross the stream at various sections of the gardens on several charming bridges. Gibbs designed the gardens to include 24 ponds, 32 bridge crossings, 19 waterfalls and plenty of benches to sit back and take in the natural beauty.
The gardens open in February after the cold winter months. Spring blooms showcase over 50 varieties of daffodils, tulips, dogwoods and cherry blossoms. Spring and early summer is a spectacular display of azaleas, rhododendrons, ferns, hydrangeas and waterlilies. Summer is chalked full of vibrant daylilies and crape myrtles. Fall celebrates the reds, golds and oranges of Japanese maples and wildflowers.
