Find Your Soul in Macon

Home to R&B music icons like Otis Redding, Little Richard, and, of course, The Allman Brothers Band, Macon is filled to the brim with art galleries, museums, and wonderful restaurants. Spared in Sherman's march to the sea, Macon is one of the few cities in Georgia to still feature antebellum architecture. Take a stroll through historic downtown to take in the Old South mansions.

Get a glimpse of rock 'n' roll history and visit The Allman Brothers Band Museum at the Big House. Packed full of music memorabilia, the museum gives visitors a peak at the space the rock legends used to create their music, hone their craft, and raise their families. If you're not already an Allman Brothers fan, you will at least have an appreciation for the band's contributions to rock 'n' roll as well as to the city of Macon.

Hungry? Grab some grub at Ingleside Village Pizza. Known for their eclectic and "well-lit" decor, Ingleside offers up amazing slices along with a nice selection of beer. Feel like a burger? Head over to The Rookery, a favorite eatery of both Jimmy Carter and The Allman Brothers. Their boozy grown-up shakes are highly recommended!
